    Computer Technology

I have a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, a Master’s degree in Educational Technology and am a Microsoft Certified Professional.

My educational philosophy is to teach a variety of technology skills across a range of standards based subjects. I prefer developing those skills in a project setting integrated with the grade level classroom curriculum. I strive to develop skills in my students that are current, challenging, fun, and relevant to their classwork and future studies in education and life.

    School-wide Enrichment Program

Greetings from the Creative Thinking Center! My name is Christie Pickard. I’m married to James Pickard. He is the D.A.R.E. Officer at John S. Jones Elementary School in Rainbow City. We have four children. Cody is a working man these days getting ready to enter the Army. Mollie is living away at college and loving it. Justin just finished up his senior year and Michaela is a cheerleader at Glencoe Middle School.
I have spent the majority of my teaching career in Villa Rica, GA. My passion has always been teaching gifted students. Teaching Advanced Placement classes in Math and Language Arts at the middle school level and then spending several years as the gifted facilitator for elementary, middle and high school have been some of my greatest adventures. Making sure that students are getting the services they need is, and has been, an important part of my career.

I am so looking forward to our time together in the Creative Thinking Center! We are going to have many adventures this year! Please feel free to email me or call me with any questions or concerns. (cpickard@gcs.k12.al.us or 256-546-0011)

    Resource Teacher

I came to Eura Brown as the special education resource teacher in 2000.  My philosophy of education is that all children can learn and should be given the opportunity to succeed. I hold an Educational Specialist Degree in Collaborative Education from JSU. Working with the general education teachers to develop individualized plans for students who face academic challenges is a joy to me. After school hours I enjoy spending time with my two sons, Trent and Hayden.

    Library Media Specialist

Hello from the Eura Brown Library! My name is Jana Brewer. I am married to Chad Brewer and have two children, Alex and Jorja. I earned my Bachelors degree in Elementary Education and Masters degree in Library Media from Jacksonville State University. I also hold an Education Specialist degree from the Univeristy of Alabama. I have taught in the Gadsden City School System for 17 years. One of my favorite children's authors, Mary Osborne Pope, once said "I love teaching. It's a job that last forever. Whatever you teach children today, travels with them far into the future." That quote rings true with myself. There is no greater gift than to see my students follow their dreams and succeed. I am looking forward to a great year and getting to know each and every student here at Eura Brown.

What an Honor!
October 25th, 2016

At the end of September we received the news that Eura Brown Elementary had been awarded the National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence title. It had been a long wait. We were nominated in January, submitted the application in March, and then the long wait. We had a celebration assembly where everyone received a blue ribbon for their contribution to the honor. I will be traveling to Arlington, Virginia in November to bring home the plaque and the flag. Congratulations Eura Brown Elementary!
